Saints Still Interested In CB Nnamdi Asomugha & LB Victor Butler

Larry Holder of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints are still considering the idea of adding some free agents to their defense.

Victor Butler

Holder mentions that free agent LB Victor Butler will continue his visit with the team on Friday and there’s “mutual interest” between the two sides.

Butler actually played for Saints new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in Dallas last season. Sean Payton singled out the outside linebacker position as area where they need to upgrade.

The Steelers have also shown interest in Butler. We have Butler listed as the No. 17 player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.

Nnamdi Asomugha

According to Holder, New Orleans is “thought to remain high” on free agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha.

Holder adds that things are currently in a “holding pattern” regarding Nnamdi as he considers his available options.

The 49ers have also shown interest, but a recent report indicated that they’re unlikely to offer him a starting job next season.

We have him listed as the No. 12 player in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
