Saints Waive S Marcus Ball, DB Ty Zimmerman & LB Kyle Knox

Evan Woodbery of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, citing a league source, reports that the Saints have waived LB Kyle Knox and S Marcus Ball on Monday.

  • The Saints announced that they also released DB Ty Zimmerman on Monday.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing these two players will free up $1.093 million in available cap space while creating just $4,000 in dead money.

Ball, 27, signed as a free agent with the Argonauts back in February of 2012. He spent two years with the Argonauts and totaled  142 tackles, seven sacks, four interceptions, two returned for touchdowns and three fumble recoveries over this time.

New Orleans signed him to a three-year contract in April of last year. He wound up appearing in 12 games and recorded 16 tackles for the Saints.

Knox, 26, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State back in 2012. He spent a little over a year in Seattle before he was released and later claimed by the Jaguars. New Orleans would later add him to their practice squad in October of 2013.

In 2014, Knox appeared in 12 games for the Saints and recorded three tackes.
