The New Orleans Saints have placed C Jack Allen on waivers with an injury designation on Wednesday and signed CB Elijah Mitchell to a contract, according to Nick Underhill.
Should Allen pass through waivers unclaimed, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list on Thursday.
Allen, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State back in May of last year. New Orleans, unfortunately, cut him loose coming out of the preseason but he was later signed to their practice squad.
During his college career at MSU, Allen was a 2015 first-team All-American and made 47 starts at center and guard for the Spartans.
