Saints Waiving K Zach Hocker

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Saints are placing K Zach Hocker on waivers Monday.

New Orleans ultimately elected to stick with Hocker, despite holding kicker tryouts a few weeks ago. However, Hocker has continued to struggle to convert his field goal attempts.

For what it’s worth, the Saints previously tried out Randy Bullock and Kai Forbathso they could be brought back for tryouts this week.

Hocker, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Redskins. However, he was unable to make the team’s final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason last year and was among their final roster cuts.

The Dolphins later signed him to a future/reserve deal in early January before cutting him back May. Hocker later caught on with the Saints and managed to win the job this summer.

In six games this season, Hocker has converted 9 of 13 (69.2 percent) of his field goal attempts. He’s also 11 out of 12 in extra point tries.
