Saints Waiving WR Nick Toon

Kristian Garic reports that the Saints are waiving WR Nick Toon, as they cut their roster down to 75 players before today’s deadline.

Here are the other players that are reportedly being released by New Orleans:

• WR Lance Lewis
• LB Ronald Powell
• LB Chris Young
• OT Antonio Johnson
• DE Markus Pierce-Brewster
• CB Terrence Frederick
• WR R.J. Harris
• DT David Hunter

Toon has been a big disappointment for the Saints, as they have been in need of receiver help in recent years, but haven’t gotten very much out of him.

Toon, 26, was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.51 million rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Toon will free up $660,000 in cap space while creating $101,903 in dead money.

In 2014, Toon appeared in seven games and caught 17 passes for 215 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Saints.
