Sam Darnold On Possibly Playing For Browns: “I’d Be Honored To Play For Any Team”

On Wednesday, USC QB Sam Darnold told reporters he would be “honored to play for any [NFL] team.

“Whenever I come out to go to the NFL, I think I’d be honored to play for any team,” Darnold said, via ESPN.com. “It’s been a dream of mine for such a long time to play in the NFL. Any team that would want to give me that opportunity to be a part of their organization, it would mean the world to me.

This comes a few days after UCLA QB Josh Rosen said that he would rather drop a bit in the draft and go to the right team than get drafted higher by the wrong team.

“I’d rather be a lower pick at the right team than a higher at the wrong team,” Rosen said, per Josh Weinfuss.

Both Darnold and Rosen are projected to be high picks in next year’s draft. Although, neither has officially declared for the NFL draft as of now.

It’s worth mentioning that a rumor surfaced last month that Darnold could go back to USC if the Browns secure the No. 1 overall pick. However, Darnold denied the rumor, saying he “didn’t say anything about the Browns … I’ve never said anything bad about [an NFL] team.

Darnold, 20, is currently a sophomore at USC. He led the Trojans to a Rose Bowl victory over Penn State last season and was Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year.

During his college career at USC, Darnold has thrown for 6,873 yards while completing 65.3 percent of his passes to go along with 57 touchdowns and 21 interceptions over the course of 26 games.
