San Antonio Possible Temporary Home For Raiders Before Moving To Las Vegas?

According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Los Angeles Daily News, San Antonio could serve as a temporary home for the Raiders, depending on how things go in Oakland this season.

Bonsignore says that it’s possible the Raiders could have a one-year stay in San Antonio for the 2018-2019 season before moving into their brand new stadium in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, Raiders owner Mark Davis announced that the plans to remain in Oakland until the new stadium is built, but there’s no telling how things will go in 2017 now that team’s relocation plans are set in stone.

Before Las Vegas emerged as a serious landing spot for the Raiders’ franchise, Davis had met with city officials from San Antonio about moving the team to south Texas. While Davis said his interest in San Antonio was serious, there were clear issues with the idea, given that the Cowboys and Texans would likely have taken issue with sharing the market with a third team.

Overall, this still seems like a long-shot at best but certainly something to keep in mind if issues surface during the 2017 season.
