Shead, unfortunately, suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee during the divisional round of the playoffs last year. Seattle elected to place him on the physically unable to perform list coming out of the preseason to buy him time to get back to being 100 percent.

Shead, 28, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State back in 2012. He returned to the Seahawks on a one-year exclusive rights contract last year and was set to be a restricted free agent, but Seattle did not tender him a contract during the offseason.

The Seahawks did, however, re-sign Shead to a one-year, $1.5 million contract this past March.

In 2016, Shead appeared in 15 games for the Seahawks and recorded 81 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and 14 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 40 cornerback out of 119 qualifying players last year.
