Dolphins Sign DT Marvin Austin

Update:

Jason La Canfora reports that the Miami Dolphins have signed free agent DL Marvin Austin.

Dolphins DT Paul Soliai suffered a left knee injury during Week 2 win over the Colts, so adding another defensive linemen at least provides them some temporary depth at the position.

Austin, 24, was selected in the second-round of the 2011 draft, but only appeared in eight games for the Giants due to injuries and a suspension. The Lions also met with Austin since his release.

Aaron Wilson reports that the Miami Dolphins worked out former Giants defensive linemen Marvin Austin.

  • Wilson adds that Miami also brought in defensive linemen Jerell Powe, Marcus Dixon and Antonio Dixon for workouts as well.

Adam Caplan reports that the Seattle Seahawks worked out former Giants DT Marvin Austin this week.

Seattle has a pretty deep group of defensive lineman, although a few players are dealing with injuries. It’s hard to say what Austin offers given that he’s played in only a handful of games since entering the NFL.
