Seahawks DC Dan Quinn Could Hire Kyle Shanahan As OC If He Gets HC Job

A source tells Jason Cole of the Bleacher Report that Seahawks DC Dan Quinn will try to hire Kyle Shanahan away from the Browns if he lands a head-coaching job in the coming weeks.

  • Cole mentions that there is a “strong chance” Quinn could be hired by the New York Jets.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported on Tuesday that Shanahan would consider making a lateral move such as an offensive coordinator position with another team.

Shanahan’s willingness to consider other opportunities reportedly stems from friction between the Browns’ coaching staff and their front office.

Sources tell Cabot that the biggest issue within the Browns is that the coaching staff and front office aren’t seeing eye to eye on some key issues. On top of that, a high-ranking personnel member reportedly texted down to the sidelines about the team’s play calls, which caused a stir with the coaching staff.

There was talk earlier in the week that Kyle could join his father, Mike, as a package deal, but recent reports have said that Kyle would prefer to go out on his own, rather than re-join his father’s coaching if an opportunity were to be available to him.

Quinn has been linked to every available head-coaching job in the NFL, so the Bears, 49ers, Bills, Jets, Falcons and Raiders could all be in play for him.

We’ll have more updates regarding Quinn and Shanahan as the news is available.
