Seahawks G Luke Joeckel Expected To Miss 4-5 Weeks Following Surgery

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll told reporters on Tuesday that G Luke Joeckel is expected to miss the next 4-5 weeks after he recently underwent knee surgery, per Bob Condotta.

According to Carroll, Mark Glowinski and Ethan Pocic will compete for playing time at left guard while Joeckel is out and he “wouldn’t be surprised if both guys play this week,” per John Boyle.

Joeckel, 25, was taken with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jaguars back in 2013. He’s finished the final year of his four-year, $21.2 million contract with the Jaguars, but Jacksonville declined to pick up his fifth-year option, which allowed him to test the open market during the offseason.

The Seahawks eventually signed him to a one-year, $8 million contract.

In 2017, Joeckel appeared in all four games for the Seahawks and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 26 guard out of 72 qualifying players.
