Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that free agent G J.R. Sweezy is visiting with the Seahawks on Monday and taking a physical for the team.
Last week, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media mentioned that a return to the Seahawks could make “a lot of sense” for Sweezy and this would be something Seattle is open to exploring.
Sweezy, 29, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with Seattle before signing a five-year, $32.5 million deal with the Buccaneers in 2016.
Sweezy was set to make base salaries of $6.5 million and $5.75 million over the next two years when Tampa Bay cut him loose in a move that freed up $6.5million of cap room.
In 2017, Sweezy appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 53 overall guard out of 77 qualifiers.
We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
