Seahawks In “Preliminary Talks” With WR Doug Baldwin Regarding New Contract

According to Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin, the two sides are in “preliminary talks” regarding a new contract.

“I will say things are going in the right direction,” Baldwin said, via the Seattle Times. “I don’t know how much time it’s going to take. They’ve got the draft to deal with. So we are in preliminary talks. But hopefully we will figure something out soon.”

Baldwin is the only restricted free agent who has yet to sign his tender. As of now, the only team he can sign with is the Seahawks, so he doesn’t have a ton of leverage heading into negotiations.

Baldwin, 25, was one of the more notable restricted free agents this year and he would have made $2.187 million for the 2014 season by signing his restricted tender.

Last year, he played in all 16 games for the Seahawks in 2013, and totaled 50 receptions for 778 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 22 receiver in the league last season.
