Seahawks Keeping Russell Wilson In Place As Their Starting QB For Now

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Russell Wilson will remain their starting quarterback, despite his poor performance against the Rams last weekend.

We’re going with Russell right now,” Carroll said, via the Tacoma News Tribune. “He’s working his tail off to get it right.”

Yesterday, Carroll mentioned that backup quarterback Matt Flynn was dealing with an elbow issue, and playing may not even be an option at this point. Flynn seems to be ready go if needed, despite the elbow tendinitis that Carroll said he is dealing with.

“I’m ready to go whenever I need to go,” Flynn said. “That’s how I’m going to look at it. I still have confidence, and I think I can get the job done if I needed to.”

Seattle is giving Wilson every opportunity to succeed in their offense, even though they did invest a decent amount of money in Flynn during the offseason. Another bad performance could force the team to reconsider their starting quarterback, so it will be very important for Wilson to produce in the near future.
