Seahawks LB Mychal Kendricks To Meet With NFL Regarding Indefinite Suspension

Pro Football Talk reports that Seahawks LB Mychal Kendricks is scheduled to meet with the NFL this week regarding his indefinite suspension for insider trading.

According to PFT, a more specific suspension for Kendricks could be coming from the NFL.

Last we heard about Kendricks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that he, the NFLPA and lawyers were planning to fight his indefinite suspension from the NFL and looking to prove that the league does not have the right to suspend him on an indefinite basis.

Kendricks is specifically looking for the NFL to designate a specific number of games for his suspension that would still allow him to return to the team later on in the season and play until he receives a sentence regarding his insider trading case later this winter.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll spoke with commissioner Roger Goodell on Kendrick’s behalf while Kendricks has traveled to NFL offices twice within the last month to meet with league officials and state his case

Goodell told the Seahawks that he didn’t have all the information on the situation, but the NFL later handed down an indefinite suspension.

Kendricks pleaded guilty to insider trading last month, but never profited off it, made immediate restitution, has no criminal record, and is not scheduled to be sentenced until January 24. Reports have said that Kendricks could face between 30 to 37 months in prison based on federal guidelines.

The NFL considered placing Kendricks on the commissioner’s exempt list before he was released by the Browns.

Kendricks, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He was entering the fourth year of his five-year, $29.896 million contract that included $16.4 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $5.85 million for the 2018 season when the Eagles designated him as a post-June 1 release a few months ago.

The Browns later signed Kendricks to a one-year contract worth a maximum of $3.5 million only to cut him loose shortly after the news of the insider trading charges surfaced.

Kendricks signed a one-year contract with the Seahawks last month.

In 2018, Kendricks has appeared in three games for the Seahawks and recorded 15 tackles, two sacks, and a pass defense.
