Seahawks Could Look To Trade DL Ahtyba Rubin, Broncos Possible Landing Spot

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that as soon as the Seahawks complete their trade with the Jets for DE Sheldon Richardson, they’re expected to turn their attention to trading veteran DL Ahtyba Rubin.

According to Rapoport, the Broncos are a team worth keeping an eye on.

Rubin, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Browns back in 2008. He spent seven years in Cleveland before signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks.

He is entering the second year of a three-year, $12 million contract that contained $5.5 million guaranteed. Rubin is set to earn a base salary of $1.7 million this year to go along with another $3.3 million in 2018.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Rubin would create $3,000,000 in dead money and just $700,000 in available cap space.

In 2016, Rubin appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and recorded 38 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 90 interior defensive lineman out of 125 qualifying players.
