Seahawks Looking To Add A Similar QB To Russell Wilson, Prepared To Shop Matt Flynn

Seahawks GM John Schneider mentioned that they will listen to offers for QB Matt Flynn.

We are open to anything,” said Schneider, per Adam Schein. “Blessed to have Matt. I’d be lying if I told you we wouldn’t listen to people.”

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that they discussed the possibility of adding a quarterback with a similar skill set to that of Russell Wilson, which is obviously the exact opposite of Matt Flynn.

“We’ve talked a lot about that,” Carroll said, via the Tacoma News Tribune.. “It would be nice to have another guy that might be able to be a factor that way. There’s some really good kids out there. We’ll see.

Carroll wouldn’t go as far to say that Flynn will be shopped around during the offseason, but it’s hard to image that they would want to pay a backup $5.25 million next season.

Flynn signed a three year deal worth $19.5 million last year and there are not a lot of options at quarterback on the open market, so it’s conceivable that Seattle could find some interest in Flynn.

Carroll also mentioned that they would like to add another pass rusher during the offseason and added that they’ll reevaluate DT Jason Jones, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

  1. I would first try to move Flynn, then offer him a chance to be the back up with a reworked contract, 3rd and final option, release him. You got the qb, you need a great back up. Getting Trevor Pryor from the Raiders. trade a 3rd round pick. or swap matt flynn.
