Seahawks Sign RB Marshawn Lynch To A Multi-Year Extension

The Seattle Seahawks have announced that they’ve re-signed RB Marshawn Lynch multi-year extension.

We are excited to keep Marshawn as an important part of what we are building,” general manager John Schneider said. “This is what we were hoping for when we acquired him from Buffalo.”

Jay Glazer reports that Lynch gets a four-year deal worth $31 million and includes $17 million guarantees.

It was reported earlier that they would have franchised Lynch had they not agreed to an extension tonight.

Pro Football Talk reports that a “source with knowledge of the Seahawks’ position” has mentioned that Seahawks have reached an agreement with Marshawn Lynch‘s agent but adds that he’s unable to “persuade Lynch to accept it.”

Very strange indeed. Normally the agent is the one who is reluctant to agree to a deal and it’s assumed that the agent is on board with the demands of his client; so to hear the opposite, comes as a bit of a surprise.

Seattle believes that the only holdup if for Lynch to sign the contract. If something isn’t agreed to within the next 24 hours or so, the team will most likely franchise Lynch.
