Seahawks Prepared To Move On Without MLB David Hawthorne?

Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times mentions that the Seattle Seahawks could allow MLB David Hawthorne to leave during free agency rather re-sign him to a long-term contract.

They want to get faster at linebacker and they could easily slide K.J. Wright inside,” writes O’Neil. “… He’d probably be a cheaper alternative than bringing David back. So there’s a possibility that Hawthorne could move on.”

Hawthorne, 26, is rated as the #18 best inside linebacker by Pro Football Focus and has enough versitlity to play in both a 3-4 and 4-3 scheme so you can expect to see a number of teams interested in him if the Seahawks allow him to leave.

Eric D. Williams specifically mentions that the team could be interested in replacing him with 49ers LB Larry Grant, via  710 ESPN Seattle.

We have Hawthorne listed as the #32 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
