Update:

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll announced that RB Chris Carson has a fracture just below his knee along with a high ankle sprain, per Bob Condotta.

Carroll added that Carson is still undergoing tests to determine the severity of his injury but it’s clear “he’s going to be out,” per Condotta.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Seahawks believe RB Chris Carson broke his ankle during last night’s game based on initial tests.

The plan for Carson is to have him undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the damage to his ankle.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson went down with a serious left ankle injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s game against the Colts.

Carson had an air cast placed on his leg before being taken off of the field.

Carson had a Colts’ player fall on his leg and it only got worse from there, as he was tangled up by a number of defenders. It was clear that this was a major injury, as Russell Wilson immediately dove down to check on him.

Based on video of the play, David Chao mentions that the concern for Carson is that he has a lower leg/ankle fracture/dislocation.

With Carson likely out for the year with this injury, it could open up more playing time for veteran RB Eddie Lacy. Although the Seahawks had both Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise inactive tonight, so they too could be factored into the mix moving forward.

Carson, 23, was taken in the seventh-round of this year’s NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2.46 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.

Entering tonight’s game, Carson had rushed for 166 yards on 37 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 35 yards receiving and one touchdown.
