Seahawks Re-Sign WR Sidney Rice

Sidney Rice announced via his Twitter account Wednesday that he has re-signed with the Seahawks.

Multiple sources have since confirmed that Rice will receive a one-year contract from Seattle.

  • Pro Football Talk reports that Rice will receive more than the veteran minimum.

The news comes as a bit of a surprise given that reports from just a few hours ago mentioned that Rice was visiting with the Jets and took a physical for the team.

There was still a chance that Rice could be back with the Seahawks, even after they elected to release him back in February and take the $7.3 million in cap space.

Rice, 27, was limited to appearing in just eight games and caught 15 receptions for 231 yards receiving and three touchdowns in 2013. He’s missed a total of 25 games over the last four years.

We had him listed as the No. 5 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
