Seahawks S Earl Thomas Won’t Be Ready For Camp, Week 1 Also “Uncertain”

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that Seahawks S Earl Thomas, who is still recovering from a torn labrum, will not be ready for the start of training camp and his status for the regular-season opener is still uncertain.

Thomas was able to participate in individual drills during the Seahawks OTA’s, but it sounds like there’s still a ways to go before he’s back to being 100 percent healthy.

Thomas, 26, signed a five-year, $44.725 million contract that included $27.725 million guaranteed with the Seahawks in April of last year. He stands to make a base salary of $5.5 million for the upcoming season.

In 2014, Thomas appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and recorded 97 tackles, one interception, three forced fumbles and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 safety out of 87 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Thomas’ status for Week 1 and training camp as the news is available.
