The Seattle Seahawks officially placed S Kam Chancellor on the Reserve/Did Not Report list on Friday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Seahawks S Kam Chancellor followed through on his threat to not report to the team in preparation for training camp on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

While Chancellor won’t technically be considered a holdout until he misses a practice, the overall expectation is that he’ll try to leverage being away from the team into a new contract extension.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported yesterday that Chancellor is looking for more money and has informed the team that he’s “strongly considering” holding out of training camp.

Seattle already has a lot on their plate in terms of players to be addressed such as QB Russell Wilson, MLB Bobby Wagner and LT Russell Okung all in need of new deals.

Chancellor, 27, still has another three years remaining on his five-year, $29.323 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $4.55 million (2015), $5.1 million (2016), and $6.8 million (2017).

Brian McIntyre notes that none of Chancellor’s remaining $16.875 million is guaranteed beyond this season.

In 2014, Chancellor appeared in 14 games and recorded 78 tackles, one interceptions, a forced fumble and six pass defenses for the Seahawks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
