Seahawks Schedule Visits With RBs Adrian Peterson & Jamaal Charles

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Seahawks have scheduled visits with free agent running backsĀ Adrian Peterson and Jamaal Charles.

La Canfora mentions that Seattle is being “very diligent” in regards to finding offensive line and running back help, which explains why they’ve already met with G T.J. Lang and RB Eddie Lacy. The Seahawks have a visit lined up with free agent RBĀ Latavius Murray for Tuesday as well.

According to La Canfora, the Seahawks plan to take their time when it comes to adding a running back.

The running back market is still taking shape, as Danny Woodhead is the only one who has signed a contract up to this point. Teams appear to be reluctant to move quickly on veteran running backs when there is such a deep class of rookies coming into the league.

Peterson, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2007. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $44 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $11.75 million to go along with a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.

In 2016, Peterson hasĀ rushed for 72 yards on 37 carries (1.9 YPC) to go along with three receptions for eight yards receiving and no touchdowns over the course of three games.

Charles, 30, was in the final year of hisĀ four-year, $28 million contractĀ that includedĀ $8.3 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $3.75 million for the 2017 season when the Chiefs cut him in a move that freed up $7 million of available cap space.

In 2016, Charles appeared in three games and rushed for 40 yards on 12 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 14 yards receiving and a touchdown.
