Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that the Seahawks have signed former Vikings K Blair Walsh to a contract on Thursday.

This is a really interesting move from the Seahawks, as Steven Hauschka is in line to a free agent next month.

The addition of Walsh could be an indication that they plan to move on from Hauschka this offseason after his six years with the team.

If Seattle does, in fact, move on from Hauschka as it appears, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them add another kicker to compete with Walsh this summer.

Walsh, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2012. He’s was in the second year of his five-year, $13.66 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.15 million for the 2016 season when the Vikings cut him loose back in November.

Walsh struggled for the past few years, which is why Minnesota ultimately elected to move on.

In 2016, Walsh has appeared in nine games and converted 12 of 16 field goal attempts (75 percent) to go along with 15 of 19 extra point tries (78.9 percent) and 19 touchbacks.
