Seahawks Signing CB Byron Maxwell To One-Year Deal

Adam Schefter reports that the Seahawks are signing veteran CB Byron Maxwell to a one-year contract on Monday.

Seattle brought Maxwell in for a visit on Monday and apparently liked what they saw from him.

It’s worth mentioning that the Seahawks could really use some depth at cornerback after they lost Richard Sherman for the season with a torn Achilles.

Maxwell, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2011. He signed a six-year, $63 million contract that included $25 million guaranteed with the Eagles as a free agent before he was later traded to the Dolphins along with LB Kiko Alonso.

Maxwell was set to make a base salary of $10 million for the 2017 season when the Dolphins released him a few weeks ago.

In 2017, Maxwell was active for just two games and recorded eight tackles, no interceptions or pass defenses and a forced fumble.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
