According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Seahawks are signing FB/TE Joe Sommers to a contract on Saturday.
- While Sommers is viewed as an H-back due to his versatility, Garafolo indicates that he will likely be listed as a tight end for the Seahawks.
It didn’t take Sommers long to secure another opportunity, as he was waived by the Bears to make room for veteran FB Darren Young just a few days ago.
Sommers, 23, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin-Oshkosh back in May before being cut loose earlier in the week.
During his college career, Sommers totaled 87 receptions for 1,384 yards receiving to go along with seven touchdowns. He was also a Division III All-American at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
