Seahawks Place RB Troymaine Pope & FB Will Tukuafu On I.R. & Sign Two

The Seattle Seahawks officially placed RB Troymaine Pope and FB Will Tukuafu on injured reserve and signed RB Kelvin Taylor and LB Ronald Powell to their active roster, according to Curtis Crabtree.

Tukuafu, 32, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in 2010. However, he lasted just a few months in Seattle before he was cut and later signed by the 49ers.

After three years in San Francisco, Tukuafu returned to the Seahawks during the 2014 season and remained with Seattle through the 2015 season. The Seahawks cut Tukuafu loose a few weeks into the regular season before bringing him back in October.

In 2016, Tukuafu appeared in seven games for the Seahawks and rushed for two yards on two carries.

Pope, 23, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later claimed off of waivers by the Jets.

New York elected to cut Pope but he later signed on to the Seahawks’ practice squad before getting the call up close to a month ago.

In 2016, Pop appeared in four games for the Seahawks and rushed for 44 yards on 12 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with one reception for five yards receiving and no touchdowns.

Taylor, 23, was selected in the sixth round of this year’s draft by the 49ers. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad.

San Francisco elected to cut him loose a few weeks ago and he later signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad. However, Seattle cut him loose soon after.

During his college career at Florida, Taylor rushed for 2,108 on 486 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 179 yards receiving and 23 total touchdowns over the course of three seasons.
