The Seattle Seahawks placed five players on waivers with injury designations Saturday including: FB/TE Brandon Cottom, TE Cooper Helfet, TE Ronnie Shields, RB Tre Madden and DE David Perkins.

The Seahawks also signed five players to contracts including: RB Jonathan Amosa, LB Kache Palacio, RB Troymaine Pope, WR Uzoma Nwachukwu and TE Joe Sommers.

Should these players clear waivers tomorrow, they would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Helfet, 27, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafred free agent out of Duke back in 2012. Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s active roster.

Seattle re-signed him to a one-year, exclusive rights contract back in April.

In 2015, Helfet appeared in 14 games for the Seahawks and recorded 13 receptions for 130 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
