Seahawks Waive DT Jesse Williams

The Seattle Seahawks waived DT Jesse Williams on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Williams, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013 out of Alabama. He had two years remaining on his four-year, $2.37 million rookie contract when the Seahawks waived him a few weeks ago.

He was waived during the 2014 preseason with the injury designation, but later reverted to the injured reserve list after clearing waivers. Seattle wound up cutting him a year ago, only to bring him back in April.

Williams unfortunately was diagnosed with Papillary Type 2 cancer and underwent kidney surgery last year. However, he’s said in recent months that he’s back to 100 percent health after missing the entire 2015 season following a cancer diagnosis.
