Seahawks Waive WR B.J. Daniels & RB Rod Smith

The Seattle Seahawks officially waived WR B.J. Daniels and RB Rod Smith on Tuesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Daniels, 25, is a former seventh round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He lasted less than a year in San Francisco before he was waived and later claimed by the Seahawks.

Daniels was able to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. It would not be surprising to see the Seahawks sign him to their practice squad in the coming days.

Smith, 23, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State following this year’s NFL draft. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was later added to their practice squad.

The Seahawks signed Smith to their active roster last week to bolster their running back depth Marshawn Lynch out of the lineup.

This season, Smith has appeared in one game ran for five yards on two carries for the Seahawks.
