Seahawks Waive S Jordan Simone & WR Jamel Johnson, Sign LB Rodney Butler

The Seattle Seahawks announced Wednesday that they’ve signed LB Rodney Butler and waived WR Jamel Johnson and S Jordan Simone (injured).

Should Simone pass through waivers unclaimed, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list on Wednesday.

Simone, 25, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in May. He was to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when Seattle cut him loose a few weeks ago.

The Seahawks brought Simone back last week but he, unfortunately, suffered an ACL tear last week.

During his college career at Arizona State, Simone recorded 191 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, four interceptions, a forced fumble, two recoveries and four two pass defenses over the course of two seasons and 22 games.
