Seahawks Waive/Injured RB Malcolm Johnson

The Seattle Seahawks officially placed RB Malcolm Johnson on waivers with an injury designation Thursday.

This means that Johnson would revert to the team’s injured reserve list if he clears waivers on Friday.

Johnson, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was in the second-year of a four-year, $2,399,452 rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $525,000 this season when Cleveland cut him loose back in October.

The Seahawks signed him to their practice squad and eventually made his way to the active roster, but Seattle decided to waive him to make room for WR Kevin Smith back in December.

Johnson returned to the Seahawks on a futures deal this past January.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in seven games for the Seahawks and recorded five receptions for 44 yards and lost one fumble. He also contributed one rushing attempt for two yards.
