Seahawks Waive/Injured RB Robert Turbin

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks are waiving RB Robert Turbin with the injury designation.

  • According to Rapoport, Turbin is expected to miss 5 weeks.

Rapoport wonders if any team will be willing to place a waiver claim on Turbin, seeing as he’ll need to pass through waivers before he can be placed on the injured reserve list.

Turbin is dealing with a serious ankle issue that is likely a high-ankle sprain. Seahawks HC Pete Carroll has said that he’s unsure when Turbin will be back, but Seattle has already brought in veteran RB Fred Jackson to their roster, so they should have things covered for the time being.

Turbin, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $2,556,456 rookie contract that included a $456,456 signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

Last year, Turbin appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and ran for 310 yards on 74 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 16 receptions for 186 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

  1. this is smart.. Rawls makes the team.. Michael gets traded, leaving a possible spot for Rod Smith who I believe has the most upside of the young backs
