Seahawks Will Hold Competition For Starting QB Job

Despite signing Matt Flynn to a three-year contract, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll reportedly made it clear to him that he’ll have to compete with Tarvaris Jackson for the starting quarterback job.

We now have the opportunity to make it an open competition,”said Pete Carroll, via 710 ESPN.

Normally it’s implied that the job is yours after signing a new deal but if Flynn can’t beat out Jackson, than he probably doesn’t deserve the job anyway. It’s worth noting that the Green Bay Packers have forced their quarterbacks to compete in their quarterbacks camp every year which has been something that Aaron Rodgers and Flynn have credited for their development. Flynn’s really a decent quarterback so I’m sure that he’ll be able to handle the competition quite well.
