Seahawks Willing To Give Russell Wilson A Shot At Starting

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that third-round pick Russell Wilson showed them enough during rookie workouts to earn a shot at starting for them.

He showed us enough,” said Carroll, via the Seattle Times. “He’s in the competition.

Carroll pointed to Wilson’s preparation, “terrific arm,” and understanding of the West Coast offense as the main reasons why he’ll get a shot to start.

He did an excellent job of demonstrating that he prepared for this,” Carroll said.

While Wilson is probably a very impressive player and individual, it would certainly be surprising to see him under center to start the season. Matt Flynn figures to be the favorite at this point, but Tarvaris Jackson is in this competition as well.
