Seahawks Worked Out 7 Players Including DE Josh Boyd & S Elijah Shumate

According to Howard Balzer, the Seahawks brought in seven players for workouts on Tuesday including: TE Alex Bayer, DE Josh Boyd, DE Malliciah Goodman, CB Trae Elston, S Jordan Lomax, RB Julian Howsare (signed to practice squad), and S Elijah Shumate.

Boyd, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Packers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.25 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season when the Packers waived him this past May.

The Seahawks brought Boyd in for a workout last week but did not sign him to a contract. This is the second team with reported interest in Boyd since the Packers cut him loose shortly after the 2016 NFL Draft.

He has been working his way back from a serious ankle injury that ended his 2015 season.

In 2015, Boyd appeared in two games for the Packers after he suffered a torn ligaments in addition to a broken bone in his ankle and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Goodman, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2013. He spent three years in Atlanta before he was waived coming out of the preseason a few months ago.

This is the first reported interest in Goodman since he became available at the start of the regular season.

In 2015, Goodman’s season was cut short due to a knee injury that required surgery. He appeared in four games and recorded three tackles for the Falcons.
