Seahawks & WR Doug Baldwin Currently Discussing A Contract Extension

Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin mentioned during an interview with Sports Radio KJR in Seattle that the two sides sides are currently in talks regarding a contract extension.

We are in conversation about an extension,” Baldwin said, per John Boyle.

Baldwin added that the Seahawks have extended him an offer and he has countered.

The last we heard regarding Baldwin and the Seahawks, the two parties were in “preliminary talks.”

Baldwin remains the only restricted free agent who has yet to sign his tender. As of now, the only team he can sign with is the Seahawks, so he doesn’t have a ton of leverage heading into negotiations, especially now that the Seattle came away from the draft with second-round pick WR Paul Richardson.

Baldwin, 25, was one of the more notable restricted free agents this year and he would have made $2.187 million for the 2014 season by signing his restricted tender.

Last year, he played in all 16 games for the Seahawks in 2013, and totaled 50 receptions for 778 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 22 receiver in the league last season.
