“Several Teams” Have Called DT Kevin Williams, But No Offers Yet

Free agent DT Kevin Williams says that “several teams” have called about his availability, but he is yet to receive any offers, via Ben Goessling of ESPN.

  • Williams mentioned that, at this stage in his career, he is looking for the right situation, and is not interested in a camp competition.

Minnesota has been vague when discussing their interest in bringing Williams back.  The team has taken steps to prepare for his possible departure, adding DT Linval Joseph and re-signing DT Fred Evans via free agency.  The team also has promising second-year DT Sharrif Floyd.

Williams, 34, has spent eleven seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and was considered one of the best interior lineman in the league for a large potion of his career.  It is very possible that Williams could end up in the Vikings Ring of Honor, commemorating the franchise’s best players.

In 2013, he totaled 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.  Pro Football Focus rated Williams as the No. 27 interior defensive linemen in the league.

We have him listed as the No. 21 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
