The San Diego Chargers placed LB Shawn Merriman on reserved injured list yesterday which will end his tenure with the team. The Chargers will release Merriman as soon as he recovers from his calf injury.
Since the news broke, there has been plenty of speculation on who may be interested in Merriman once he becomes available.
The Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints have both been mentioned as being interested in Merriman because their need for a pass-rusher.
The Cincinnati Bengals are also interested in adding some linebacker depth. Yesterday the team worked out Adalius Thomas so Merriman remains a possibility.
Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic suggested that the Cardinals also need some help at linebacker.
Incarcerated Bob tweeted that the Green Bay Packers should be high on Merrimans list. The Packers have had a number of injuries to their linebackers.
