Sidney Rice An Option For The Panthers?

Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer writes that although Panthers GM Dave Gettleman does have ties to the Giants organization, it’s unlikely that they can afford WR Hakeem Nicks in the coming months.

However, Person believes the Panthers could take a look at someone like WR Sidney Rice, who was just released by the Seahawks earlier in the week.

Person mentions that Rice is more likely to be a “value signing” given that he is coming off of another injury filled season.

Carolina isn’t going to have a lot of cap space to pursue upgrades in free agency, so it’s going to be important for them to shop around for value like Person said.

Rice, 27, appeared in eight games last season totaling 15 receptions for 231 yards receiving and three touchdowns. We have him listed as the No. 62 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
