Signing Veteran LB Nick Barnett Still An Option For Falcons

Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports that free agent LB Nick Barnett is still on the Falcons’ radar and could be signed to a contract depending on how their linebackers play in training camp.

The Falcons actually brought in Barnett for a workout back in June after they unfortunately lost LB Sean Weatherspoon for the season due to a ruptured Achilles’ tendon.

Atlanta recently signed Pat Angerer to a contract, but he is working his way back from a knee injury that required microfracture surgery and left practice on Tuesday with headaches.

Barnett, 33, signed on with the Redskins last year and appeared in 14 games before he suffered a MCL tear in December and was subsequently placed on injured reserve.
