Some Options Emerge For Dolphins Coordinator Positions

Now that the Miami Dolphins have Joe Philbin installed as their next head coach, the search can begin for offensive and defensive coordinators.

The Palm Beach Post writes that Philbin is expected to give a “serious look” at possibly hiring Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman for their offensive coordinator position.

Sherman actually hired Philbin while he was coaching at Tulane University and in Green Bay so there’s plenty of history between the two of them. Sherman is currently being considered for the Buccaneers job so he may wait to hear what happens their before making a decision regarding an offensive coordinator position.

What’s interesting about the idea of hiring Sherman is that he actually coached on this years top quarterback prospects in Ryan Tannehill. Miami has made it known that finding a quarterback of the future is their top priority so there’s a chance that Tannehill could be a target for the Dolphins come April.

NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora reported late last night that the Dolphins will likely consider Bengals defensive backs coach Kevin Coyle for their defensive coordinator opening now that Mike Nolan has left for Atlanta and Todd Bowles is reportedly considering other jobs.
