Report: Dolphins Have “Moderate” Interest In DB Charles Woodson

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have in fact reached out to free agent DB Charles Woodson.

A team source has informed Salguero that the Dolphins have “moderate” interest in Woodson.

Josina Anderson reports that NFL sources have informed her that the Dolphins, Giants, Jets and Seahawks have all “called to discuss” free agent DB Charles Woodson.

Woodson, 36, mentioned that he would like to sign with a contender at this point in his career, which would essentially eliminate the Jets and Dolphins as potential landing spots.

Seahawks CB Richard Sherman mentioned that he would Woodson to join them, but their secondary is so deep that it’s hard to imagine him being anymore than a role player.

The Giants seem like the most realistic option of the teams mentioned by Anderson. I’d also add the Patriots and possibly the Ravens if they’re unable to re-sign Ed Reed.

We have Woodson listed as the No. 79 best available player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
