Speculative Running Back Options For Texans If Arian Foster Misses Time

Following the news that Texans RB Arian Foster has a groin injury that could require surgery, there’s already talk about some speculative options at running back the team could consider as short-term replacements.

Aaron Wilson listed Pierre Thomas, Steven Jackson, and Ray Rice as free agents that could get looks from the Texans.

Meanwhile, Rand Getlin suggests Chris Johnson and Ahmad Bradshaw as two available backs that could make sense for the Texans if they’re without Foster for an extended period of time.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan adds Shonn Greene, Ben Tate and Knowshon Moreno to the list of players who could get consideration from Houston.

As of now, the Texans have Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard on their roster at running back, so they could wait and see what they have before looking to the free agent market for additional help.

The veteran running back market has been slow-moving to say the least, as even notable players have had a hard time finding opportunities for workouts and visits.

We have a number of these players featured in our Top 25 Available Free Agents list.
