St Louis’s WR Options

During Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions, the Rams lost their No. 1 wide receiver Michael Clayton for the remainder of the NFL season after he suffered a torn patellar tendon. Clayton had been the teams leading receiver so the loss leaves them without a go-to wideout.

The Rams will know have to decide whether or not they should sign a free agent option or look to the trade market for a better receiver. Last week we went over some of the more notable wide receiver options.

The Washington Redskins released Devin Thomas last week so he could be a possibility for the Rams if they feel that he can step in and fill Clayton’s role in the offense. The Redskins didn’t feel that he offered them much more than special teams help so the Rams interest in him could be limited.

St Louis has already balked at the asking price for Vincent Jackson so they may explore other trade targets such as Lee Evans or Steve Smith.
