Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey Visited With Redskins Tuesday

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey took a pre-draft visit to Washington on Tuesday and met with the Redskins.

Yesterday, Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com mentioned there’s a rumor circulating around the NFL that McCaffrey received a guarantee from a team drafting in the teens that they would take him if he’s still on the board at that point.

This came in response to a recent report from Mike Florio of PFT that mentioned that McCaffrey has declined all requests for private workouts with NFL teams.

McCaffrey elected to sit out of Stanford’s Bowl game, which drew criticism from several outlets, so it’s possible that all of this could fit with his strategy to not take any chances during the draft process outside of working out at the Scouting Combine.

Teams drafting in the teens that could have interest in McCaffrey include the Eagles, Colts, Ravens, Redskins and Buccaneers. Although, some of these teams may prefer to target other positions.

McCaffrey has visited with the Panthers and Broncos in recent weeks.

McCaffrey, 20, is among the top running back prospects in what’s considered to be one of the deepest classes in years. He was a Heisman trophy candidate during his junior year at Staford.

During his college career at Stanford, McCaffrey rushed for 3,915 yards on 631 carries (6.2 YPC) to go along with 100 receptions for 1,213 yards receiving and 31 total touchdowns over the course of 37 games.

We have him being selected by the Redskins in the First Round of our 2017 NFL Mock Draft.
