Steelers Activate WR Sammie Coates From PUP List

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Wednesday that they’ve activated WR Sammie Coates from the physically unable to perform list.

Coates missed the start of training camp after undergoing a knee scope back in July.

There has been talk that Coates could be on the roster bubble this summer, so he may have to show something in the coming weeks to secure his roster spot.

Coates, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Steelers back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the remainder of the contract.

In 2016, Coates appeared in 14 games for the Steelers and caught 21 passes for 435 yards receiving and two touchdowns while adding 150 kick return yards.
