Steelers & LB James Harrison Working To Lower His Cap Figure

The agent for Steelers OLB James Harrison’s confirmed that the two sides are working on reducing his $10.035 million cap number for the 2013 season.

“We’re talking,’’ said Harrison’s agent Bill Parise, via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. “Both sides want to try to do something. We’re trying to [find] common ground.”

Harrison, 34, has two years remaining on his contract with base salaries of $6.57 million in 2013 and another $7.575 million in 2014. He’s missed eight games in the past two years, but is still a serviceable player when healthy. It’s just hard to say what they’re going to get from him moving forward.

Pittsburgh could use some additional cap space to work with this offseason, so it makes sense that Harrison’s name would come up as a candidate to restructure his deal.
