Steelers Believe WR Antonio Brown Will Be Ready For Division Round Of Playoffs

According to Jason La Canfora, the SteelersĀ are “very optimistic” that WR Antonio Brown will be available for their divisional round playoff game.

La Canfora says that it would have been a stretch for Brown to have been able to return from his calf injury for a wildcard matchup. However, Brown has shown progress in recent days and is reportedly “dead-set” on returning for their opening postseason game.

Sources tell La Canfora that Brown is around-the-clock treatment both at the team’s facility and at his home, so barring a setback, he should be ready to go for round two of the playoffs.

Brown was attempting to make a catch in the end zone a few weeks ago when his leg appeared to get somewhat trapped under a Patriots’ defender and suffer the calf injury.

Brown, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He’s currently in the first year of his five-year, $72.71 million contract thatĀ included aĀ $19 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $7.875 million and 12.625 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Brown had appeared in 14 games and caught 101 passes for 1,533 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.Ā Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 1 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Brown’s injury as the news is available.
